a pure heart

Tea and LoveLetters

I have never really appreciate the old testament until I started reading the book of Samuel. And I have been so inspired ever since. I love the character of David. He has such a pure heart.  He was not perfect  but his heart was only for God. He seeks the Lord with all his heart and God grant him success in all he does.

Psalm 119:9-16
How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
By living according to your word.
I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
Praise be to you, LORD;
teach me your decrees.
With my lips I recount
all the laws that come from your mouth.
I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches.
I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.
I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.

It just dawned on me that the Lord does not seek a perfect character, he seeks a pure heart. A heart that put God first above everything else. The world tells us to have success as our goals, David's life teaches me to put God first and the Lord will grant us success in everything that we do.

Psalm 51:10-12
Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
